~Aunt Lu’s Awesome Crock Pot Sloppy Joes~

This recipe is my favorite Aunts Crock pot/Slow cooker recipe. She made this at almost ALL our family gatherings……and I loved it so much that a few years ago, I asked her the recipe. She is a Outstanding cook. Thanks Aunt LuAnne for the Recipe! Lots of love to you!

Ingredients

3 lbs. ground beef
1 cup onions diced
1 cup celery diced
1 cup green pepper diced
1 1/2 cup ketchup
2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 6 oz. can tomato paste
3/4 cup water
1/2 teaspoon paprika
3 tablespoon vinegar
3 Tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon dry mustard
salt and pepper

Directions

Brown ground beef in a skillet and break up into small pieces. Add to crockpot. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well. Turn on low and cook for 8 hours. Serve on hamburger buns.

Serves 8-10

****My Aunt always made 3 or 4 crock pots because we had over 50 family members.****

Sloppy Joe Casserole

~Sloppy Joe Casserole~

Ingredients

1 lb. lean ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped (about 1/2 cup)
1 can (15 oz) tomatoe sauce
2 teaspoons Worcestershire Sauce
1 teaspoon yellow mustard
1 pouch (6.5 oz) Betty crocker corn muffin and abread mix
1/3 cup of milk
2 Tablespoons vegetable oil
1 egg
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (appox. 4 oz)

Directions

1. Heat oven to 350 degrees. In 10-inch skillet , cook beef and onion over medium-high heat 5 to 7 minutes, stirring frequently, until brown; drain. Stir in tomato sauce, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce and mustard. Cooke 2 to 3 mintues, stirring frequently, until boiling; keep warm.

2. In small bown, stir corn bread mix, milk, oil and egg just until moistened (batter will be lumpy)

3. Spoon hot beef mixture into 8 ince square glass baking dish. Sprinkle with 3/4 cup of the cheese. Spoon corn bread batter evenly over top.

4. Bake 25 to 35 mintues or until tooth pick inserted in center of topping comes out clean. Sprinkle with remaining 1/4 cup cheese over hot casserole.

Serves 6
